CHORAL SYLLABUS, MACARTHUR DISTRICT EISTEDDFOD, 2008.

2) Entry Fee: $20 per choir or group, unless otherwise specified.
3) Taped piano accompaniment permitted only if NO other option available. Limited instrumental accompaniment acceptable. Please check with convenor.
Please Note: Choirs must provide their own accompanist. A piano is available.
4) Time Limit: 6 minutes for section where two pieces are required, 4 minutes for all other sections.

WHILE EVERY EFFORT WILL BE MADE TO COMPLETE COMPETITION IN TIME FOR BUSES TO RETURN STUDENTS TO SCHOOL PRIOR TO HOME TIME, IT MAY NOT BE POSSIBLE.
PLEASE  HAVE  APPROPRIATE ALTERNATIVE  ARRANGEMENTS IN PLACE.

Section 151: OPEN HIGH SCHOOL FOLK SINGING GROUP – one traditional folk song, or an arrangement, as long as melody is not altered. Minimum 4 voices.
Section 152: OPEN HIGH SCHOOL CHOIR – two contrasting songs or one medley. Any number of voices.
Section 153: HIGH SCHOOL SACRED SONG – any type, including anthems, cantatas etc. Any number of voices. If presenting a hymn, please identify the hymn book and hymn number.
Section 154: HIGH SCHOOL AUSTRALIAN SONG – one song by an Australian composer.
Section 155: JUNIOR SCHOOL CHOIR –
years 3 and under. Two contrasting songs or one medley for any number of voices.
Section 156: JUNIOR SCHOOL HYMN SINGING – one hymn from a hymn book, not an anthem. Any number of voices. Please identify the hymn book and hymn number
Section 157: PRIMARY SCHOOL FOLK SINGING GROUP - one traditional folk song, an arrangement, as long as melody is not altered. Minimum 4 voices.
Section 158: PRIMARY SCHOOL CHOIR – two contrasting songs or one medley. Any number of voices.
Section 159: PRIMARY SCHOOL HYMN SINGING – one hymn from a hymn book, not an anthem. Any number of voices. Please identify the hymn book and hymn number.
Section 160: PRIMARY SCHOOL AUSTRALIAN SONG – one song by an Australian composer.
Section 161: WELSH SONG
Entry fee: $30

First prize: $500; Second prize: $100; Third prize: $50
Two songs to be performed, both of which are of Welsh origin but at least one to be sung in the Welsh  language. Help with Welsh pronunciation is available. For further information, please contact Susan Newton  on 9820  4404 or 0417 683 725 after 6pm.
Section 162: School ENSEMBLE section
Open to any age, between four and fifteen voices.
Two contrasting songs, may be accompanied or a capella
Section 966: COMMUNITY OR ADULT CHOIRS
Two contrasting songs or one medley for any number of voices
Time Limit: 8 minutes.

Please note:  section 966 will be held during an Evening session at a venue to be advised Open to any church, gospel or community choir, no age limit.
 

THIS SECTION WILL BE HELD IN OCTOBER DURING THE VOCAL COMPETITION AND NOT during the SCHOOL CHOIR SECTIONS
